Relevant acts
As a State Owned Enterprise charged with operating the railway network, we are governed by the State Owned Enterprises Act (1986), the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act (1981) and the Railways Act (2005).
Under the Rail Safety Act, Land Transport New Zealand, our safety regulator, licenses us to operate the railway.
We are also an employer and as such work within the Health and Safety in Employment Act (1992).
