A rail tunnel near Greymouth on the West Coast has been demolished as part of a programme to improve the reliability and capacity of the busy Midland Line. Construction will start on improvements to Waikanae and Paraparaumu railway stations in May. The refurbished Redwood Station in Tawa re-opened to passengers on Monday 3 May. Improvements are set to begin to Box Hill and Johnsonville stations in Wellington. Pukerua Bay Station will re-open to passengers following the installation of a new platform over the summer. More than $1million worth of improvements to Redwood Station in Tawa are set to begin in early February. |
