ONTRACK has recently ordered a number of new track machines to keep up with our growing maintenance and renewals workload. These new machines have created vacancies within different track machine groups.
Track Machine gangs work alongside our track gangs operating large machines that aid in the maintenance and renewal of the track throughout New Zealand. In these gangs your geographical location can change constantly as you go where the machine is needed.
We are looking for people who can work a roster of 10 days on and 4 days off generally away from home base.
ONTRACK provide excellent in house training including the chance to gain an NZQA qualification in Rail Transport Level 2 and 3.
Roles within the track machine gang include:
Track Machine Operators
As a Track Machine operator you will operator and monitor the output of Track Machine to ensure quality of work. You will also work with the Fitter Operators and assist with them with the servicing and maintenance of the machine
To succeed as a Track Machine Operator you will need:
- Experience with labouring or manual tasks
- A commitment to Health and Safety
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather
- Ability to travel and stay away for overnight periods at times
- Possession of current New Zealand driver’s licence
- Experience with machine operation would be advantageous
Fitter / OperatorsAs a Fitter Operators you are responsible for the fault finding, servicing and maintenance of the track machine as well as been involved in the operation of the machine.
To succeed as a Fitter Operator you will need:
- Maintenance and Diagnostics Level 4 qualification or be a qualified Automotive Technician
- Experience with determining service and repair requirements and in performing maintenance of track machines.
- Experience in fault finding process including low voltage, auto electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics.
Track Machine GangersTrack Machine Gangers lead our track machine groups and ensure that the machine they operate is serviced and maintained on a regular basis. They provide training and mentoring to junior members of the group. Track Machine Gangers have extensive knowledge of track machine operation and track maintenance / renewals tasks. They will have also successfully passed and completed Level A training.
