You’ll need an electrical safety permit to work in areas on or next to rail land where there is an electrical system.
A permit is needed for any work that takes place four metres or less from electrical systems, including overhead wires. An electrical safety permit is only valid with a current permit to enter.
Examples of areas where an electrical safety permit is needed include the Wellington metro, the line between Palmerston North and Hamilton, and near substations.
If you are not sure whether you need an electrical safety permit, please contact your local ONTRACK office.
